Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his maiden championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a torrid period, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in particular - led to him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first title since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court after that period of 2023.

The win also signifies he has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one different tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters together, so to win a trophy is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and regular reactions on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his capacity to perform at the highest level was finished.

But the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and play assertively, supported by an better service.

He came back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the last five points to go ahead.

Both players exchanged breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional title, seized the initiative to force a decider.

The opponent defended 4 early break points in a competitive final set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the win with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
